Visiting Professor


Research interests: the intersection between regime theory and identity politics, with particular emphasis on religion, nationalism and language, in the context of the Middle East and the Arab-Israel conflict. Books include: The Jarring Road to Inclusive Democracy (Lexington, 2016); State Religion Relationship and Democratic Performance in Turkey and Israel (The University of Michigan Press, forthcoming). Articles appeared in journals such as: Government and Opposition, Nations and Nationalism, International Political Science Review, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, The Middle East Journal, Citizenship Studies and Contemporary Politics.
