Biography

Research interests focus on comparative environmental policy (US-CAN), specifically wildlife and biodiversity policy. Current SSHRC Connection Grant project examining the transformative politics of the wild. Author of 5 books or co-edited volumes, including Provincial Policy Laboratories: Policy Diffusion and Transfer in Canada’s Federal System (University of Toronto Press, 2021).

Cross-appointed to the Department of Geography, Olive's research interests include biodiversity and conservation policy in Canada and the United States, hydraulic fracturing in the North American grasslands, and civil society and environmentalism. She is the author of two books, Land, Stewardship and Legitimacy (UTP, 2014) and The Canadian Environment in Political Context (UTP, 2016), as well as a forthcoming co-edited book Transboundary Governance Across the World's Longest Border (MSUP, 2018).
