The suite of Political Science alumni programs below provide an avenue for professional development for our students and give alumni an opportunity to engage with the Political Science Department by sharing knowledge and experiences in the work force. You can participate in our 'Campus to Career' lunches, our One-on-One Mentorship program as well as the Backpack to Briefcase (b2B) program.
'Campus to Career' lunches
Designed for students who want to get a sense of what they can do with their political science degree, these events invite POL graduates who are now successfully established in a variety of sectors to sit down for lunch with current students.
Past guests have included:
Rosemary McCarney – President and CEO of PlanCanada – who came back to U of T to talk about how she used her political science education to become a lawyer, business executive, and founder of community-based and grassroots initiatives.
The Political Science Department was happy to host Mark Lloyd and Johanna Superina back to U of T to talk about how they used their political science degrees to enter and excel in the financial industry.

Backpack to Briefcase (b2B)
The Backpack to Briefcase (b2B) program provides opportunities for Political Science students to understand their education in a broader context – opening discussions with alumni, faculty members, staff and peers about life after graduation. Alumni are invited to speak to students at career panel discussions, sit-down mentorship meals and networking events to offer encouragement and career advice as they embark on a new stage of their lives.
