Colonial Legacies and Post-Independence African Politics

Themes

This course highlights the critical roles of colonial histories in shaping political and economic development in Africa. In it, students will learn about the politics of colonial rule and its effects on the politics of African states today. We will discuss how colonial legacies have shaped various processes, including state and nation building, democratization and redistributive politics.
