U.S. Government and Politics

This course is an introduction to American government and politics. The goal of the course is to give you the ability to understand how American political institutions operate, how those institutions have changed over time, and how they interact with public opinion to shape American political life. We will pay special attention in this term to the on-going midterm election campaign and Supreme Court controversies on cases like President Trump’s “travel ban.”
