Zionism: Between Secular Ideology and Religious Redemption
Themes
The course will examine a range of different perspectives on the relationship between Zionism – the Jewish national movement - and the Jewish religion, from those who perceive Zionism as a secular movement that defied tradition and religion to those who perceive it in religious and Messianic terms. The course will also discuss the impact of these views on Israeli society and politics as well as on the Israeli-Arab conflict.
