Asia and the New Global Economy
Themes
Course explores the rise of Asia and its integration into the new global economy (labour, capitalism, knowledge economy, economic nationalism, inequality, gender, the meaning of capitalism, democracy, among others), exposing students to different disciplinary perspectives. Geographical coverage is pan-Asian, including East, Southeast and South Asia. For their final writing assignments, students are required to write a 15 page research proposal on any topic of their choice.
