The Military Instrument of Foreign Policy: Concepts and Approaches
Themes
In light of endemic international threats and conflicts, the seminar analyses the use of the military instrument of foreign policy. We meld theoretical and pragmatic approaches. Among the subjects covered are civil-military relations, grand strategy, the development of nuclear weapons, deterrence and nuclear deterrence, arms control and war termination strategies. We will also look at a number of case studies to illuminate seminal issues in security and strategic studies.
