Themes

A comprehensive introduction to the Canadian political system. One term examines the Constitution and institutions including parliamentary government, federalism, the judiciary, and the Charter of Rights. The other term explores the ideas, issues, and societal forces that drive Canadian politics including ideology, political culture, regionalism, language and gender, multiculturalism, political parties, elections, and media.

Format and Requirements

Two essays, two term tests and a participation component.

4.0 credits, or 1.0 credit in POL/ JPA/ JPF/ JPI/ JPR/ JPS/ JRA courses
