Politics and the Economy in Industrialized Democracies

Themes

This course offers an assessment of the relationship between politics and the economy, focusing on the experience of industrialized democracies. It concentrates on two core questions: how political choices and institutions affect economic performance and in turn how economic realities shape politics. These two questions are analyzed through and across an array of topics, including globalization, economic inequality, the welfare state, voting behavior, and modes of economic production.
