Global Environmental Politics

Themes

This course investigates the nature of—and responses to—global environmental challenges, with an international relations lens on transnational relationships, global political economy, and state-society interactions. The course focuses on the trade-offs embedded in individual and collective decisions around the environment and society, considering both analytic and normative questions. In the process, it examines a number of key areas of study of the field of global environmental politics, including international environmental governance arrangements, private and market-based alternatives, activism and transnational networks, and environmental justice.
