Housing Policy in Canada and the US

Themes

This course explores the development and evolution of housing policy in Canada and the United States. To more fully understand the context in which housing policy developed, we also look at the broader welfare state design in Canada and the US. We pay particular attention to housing policy has affected contemporary issues such as homelessness, inequality, segregation, and gentrification. This course takes a distinctly urban look at these issues and draws on historic sources but also very new literature published in 2016 and 2017.
