Qualitative Methods in Political Research

Themes

This course surveys qualitative methods used in political science research. After briefly reviewing positivist and interpretivist research traditions and elements of research design, the course covers the ideal-typical and practical uses of specific qualitative methods, including interviewing, archival research, participant observation, and mixed-method strategies. Examples used will come largely from political science.
