Environmental Politics in Canada

Themes

This course examines environmental issues in the context of domestic Canadian politics (though naturally many such issues have an international dimension). In previous years (2004-08), the topics covered included climate change, biodiversity, waste management, nuclear power, urban sprawl, air/water pollution, sustainable development, and the ecological footprint.

Texts

No mandatory textbook, instead weekly readings directly available through the course website

Format and Requirements

The course has four components: writing assignments, in-class tests, weekly seminars, and in-class game simulations. A willingness to actively participate in class discussions is crucial for success in this course.
