Congressional Politics in America
Themes
The November 2018 mid-term election is an important event for understanding both the present and future directions of American government and politics. In the first part of this course we will examine the context of the election, the unique characteristics of U.S. political institutions, and the issues and dynamics of the House and Senate campaigns. Following the election we will analyze the outcome and consider the shape of the new Congress, the next two years of the Trump presidency, and the implications for U.S. public policy and politics.
