Politics and Policy Analysis
Themes
This course examines the impact of Stephen Harper-led Conservative governments on Canadian public policy. Focusing on the period since 2006, we will consider both domestic and international policy domains, as well as the tenor of policy debate in parliament and beyond. Attention will be directed toward divergent arguments that the Harper years have, on one side, fundamentally transformed the content of policy decisions and the tone of public discussion or, on the other side, exerted minimal impact on either substance or form.
