Biography
Penn Javdan is a PhD Candidate in the department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, as well as a writer of fiction and film.
His current research interrogates how existentialist visions of justice (a) shape the ethics of collective action (b) contextualize theories of political violence and (c) facilitate approaches to practical reason.
Using his background in the creative and documentary fields, he brings literature, journalism and history to bear on thinking about politics and political life.
Penn’s research is informed by works in French, Persian, Arabic, and Spanish.
