Research interests: Social, economic and labour market policy, in particular by evaluating the implications for studying them in Canada and is provinces of scholarship in comparative political economy. Recent publications addressed provincial economic and social policy, including the extent and causes of interprovincial variations in commitments and outcomes, and whether commitments are diminishing, and outcomes converging, because of globalization and post-industrialism. Publications include Poverty Reform in Canada (author, McGill-Queen’s University Press, 1993); Social Partnerships for Training (contributing co-editor, Queen’s University School of Policy Studies, 1997); The Savage Years (co-author, Formac Books, 2000); Partisanship, Globalization and Labour Market Policy (co-author, University of Toronto Press, 2006); and Comparing Quebec and Ontario: Political Economy and Public Policy at the turn of the Millennium (author, University of Toronto Press, 2015). Articles in The Canadian Journal of Political Science, Canadian Public Administration, Canadian Public Policy, The Journal of Canadian Studies and The International Journal of Canadian Studies, and many chapters in edited volumes.
