Ethel Tungohan, who was conferred her PhD by the Department of Political Science last fall, has been awarded the First Book Prize for the best dissertation from the National Women’s Studies Association. The prize comes with a contract offer from the University of Illinois Press, so her dissertation can be published as a book.
Her manuscript is titled Migrant Care Worker Activism in Canada: From the Politics of Everyday Resistance to the Politics from Below , and was written under the supervision of professor Joseph Carens.
