Yet another award for Professor Sylvia Bashevkin who has received a YWCA Toronto (Young Women’s Christian Association) Woman of Distinction award (2020) in the field of education for her dedication to promoting women in research and academic leadership. YWCA Toronto is a charity whose vision is to be a leader in transforming the lives of marginalized and disadvantaged women and girls in Toronto by providing transformative services in the areas of employment support and training, housing options and shelters, leadership development programs for girls and key supports for women and children who have experienced violence.
The citation states: “An esteemed professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto for almost 40 years, Sylvia Bashevkin has championed women’s voices in research and academic leadership throughout her career.
