Research to understand why governments continue to let unlicensed home child care businesses operate without any real oversight, despite the alarming rates of child deaths, has just been published in the Journal of Risk Research examining this question in the case of Ontario. Co-authored by Linda A. White, Professor of Political Science and Public Policy, Adrienne Davidson, Doctoral Candidate in Political Science, and Michal Perlman, Associate Professor of Applied Psychology and Human Development (all at U of T), the complete article entitled ‘Risk perception, regulation, and unlicensed child care: Lessons from Ontario, Canada’ was also featured in The Conversation.
