A hearty congrats on behalf of the Department of Political Science goes out to Elizabeth Sweitzer who has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright U.S Student Program grant to Brazil for an English Teaching Assistantship. Elizabeth graduated from the Department with her honours Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, in 2013.

She will take up her Fulbright Student Program grant in Brazil, where she will be researching the intersection between public policy and food security as it pertains to Brazil, as well as assisting in the teaching of English courses at Universidade Federal de Lavras, in Lavras, Minas Gerais.

“The scholarship was dependent on my academic performance, and I am proud that my education from the University of Toronto has allowed me to attain this prestigious award,” says Sweitzer.

Sweitzer is one of over 1,800 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S Student Program. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.
