New Toronto Mayor John Tory’s first 100 days in office have now elapsed. So far, how successful has the mayor been in uniting a divided city council and navigating a litany of complex public policy issues? Renan Levine, a political science professor at the University of Toronto at Scarborough recently told CTV News that, so far, Mayor Tory has been successful in building consensus on Toronto city council.
“It’s very different than his predecessor’s first 100 days,” Levine told CTV Toronto. “He’s making sure that he has the majority before he does everything,” Levine said. “And to the extent that he’s doing anything controversial, he’s doing it by trying to build consensus.”
