W.R. Newell is Professor of Political Science and Philosophy at Carleton University and a founder of the College of Liberal Arts there. He has published widely as both a scholar and a journalist on political thought and contemporary politics. His talk will be based on his book Tyranny: a New Interpretation, forthcoming from Cambridge University Press.
