Yash Pal Ghai is a renowned scholar of comparative constitutional law and a distinguished constitutional advisor to countries around the world, among them Papua-New Guinea, Tanzania, Fiji, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Sri Lanka. Most recently, he has worked with his wife, Jill Cottrell-Ghai, on the Somali constitutional reform process, and as a public educator during the recent Kenyan constitutional referendum. From 2000 to 2004, he was the Chair of the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission, which sought to fashion a new constitution for that country, and subsequently was head of the Constitution Advisory Support Unit of the UNDP in Nepal. Professor Ghai has taught at a variety of universities in Africa, Asia, Europe and the US, and until his retirement was the Sir Y K Pao Professor of Public Law at the University of Hong Kong.
