Biography

Research interests focus on equitable access to health care and health care technologies such as medicines, the emerging discipline of global health and medicine and humanitarianism. Author of An Imperfect Offering: Humanitarian Action in the 21st Century (20098). Recent journal publications include . Are Patents Impeding Medical Care and Innovation? (WHO, 2012); An Introduction to Global Health Ethics ( Routledge, 2012) Violations of human rights: health practitioners as witnesses (Lancet 2007); Global Health Governance and Why Civil Society Matters (2007); Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy in Sub-Saharan Africa and North America: A Meta-analysis (JAMA 2006), and Drug development for neglected diseases: a deficient market and a public health policy failure (Lancet 2002).
