Tanya Bandula-Irwin

Biography
Tanya’s research interests are in civil wars, the political economy of conflict, and armed group governance. Her dissertation is on armed group taxation with a focus on armed groups in the Philippines, though she has extensive experience researching in and on Somalia. She is currently a Research Award Fellow at the International Development Research Centre of Canada and a Fellow at the Post-Conflict Reintegration Lab, and has previously worked with the International Organization for Migration, the Danish Refugee Council, and the World Bank. Her research has been published by the Journal of Eastern African Studies, PS: Political Science & Politics, and Studies in Conflict & Terrorism.
