Themistoklis Aravossitas

Biography

Themistoklis Aravossitas completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Athens, Greece. He obtained an MA from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education focusing on second language education, and a PHD from the Department of Curriculum Teaching & Learning and the Knowledge Media Design Institute. He was awarded a SSHR Canada Post Doc Scholarship at the University of the Aegean, in Rhodes, Greece continuing his research on the fields of heritage language pedagogy and the Greek Diaspora. His recent publications include the co-edited volumes: Handbook of Research and Practice in Heritage Language Education (Springer, 2017); Interdisciplinary Research Approaches to Multilingual Education (Routledge, 2018); Language Diversity and Education Matters (Gutenberg, 2019); Language Diversity in Greece: Local Challenges with International Implications (Springer, 2020). He is currently working on community-based projects that involve developing resources for Greek language teachers and learners across Canada.
