Biography

Dr. Gerald Bareebe is a Provost Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Science, University of Toronto. His research interests include post-conflict state reconstruction, civil-military relations in East Africa’s ‘fragile’ states, ethnicity and ethnic violence, democratic institutions and electoral participation, and the politics of conflict intervention. His doctoral dissertation focused on understanding the convergence of military and regime interests in the process of post-conflict state reconstruction in two cases: post-genocide Rwanda and post-war Uganda. Gerald is also a fellow at the Centre for Critical Development Studies (UTSC) and a research fellow at the Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice (Munk School of Global Affairs).
