Maïka is a PhD candidate at UofT and a graduate associate at the Centre for Critical Development Studies. Her dissertation analyzes the evolution of practices and narrative at the World Bank, from the structural adjustment programs to the poverty reduction strategy papers (1980-2014), focusing on the advent of practices of inclusion and openness. Maïka is also a consultant on the inclusion of women in public consultations in bilateral projects for the Canadian government. She regularly gives guest lectures on critical gender studies, participated in over twenty academic conferences, and she volunteered for the NGO Socodevi in Bolivia, Oxfam Quebec in Burkina Faso and Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity in India.
