Alesha Porisky

Biography

Ms. Porisky’s research interests include state-society relations, political economy of development, social welfare and qualitative methods. Her doctoral research examines the politics of cash transfers in Tanzania and Kenya, with focus on their impacts on the relationship between citizens and state. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as a filmmaker and communications consultant for UNDP in Egypt and Serbia. Recent publications include “Advancing the Study of Political Cleavages through Experimentation: Revisiting Regionalism and Redistributive Preferences in Canada,” Regional & Federal Studies, 27(2)
