Fulbright Award

September 7, 2017

Congratulations to PhD candidate Matthew Lesch recently awarded the prestigious Fulbright Canada award. Spending this semester (September – December 2017) at Northwestern University’s Department of Sociology and the Institute for Policy Research, he will be furthering his research on the politics of public transit financing, more specifically how the politics of taxation have shaped local decisions about transit planning and infrastructure investment, drawing on recent experiences of Los Angeles, Vancouver and Boulder. His previous research has been published in Regional and Federal Studies, Journal of Canadian Studies and Journal of Environmental Law and Practice.

Traditional Fulbright awards are open to Canadian scholars in all fields and are designed to enable emerging and established scholars, post-doctoral researchers and experienced professionals to conduct research, teach or undertake a combination of both activities for one semester or a full academic year at any university or research centre of their choice in the United States.
