Yasmin Dawood awarded Canada Research Chair

Faculty of Law scholar Yasmin Dawood, who is cross-appointed to the department of Political Science, has been awarded the Canada Research Chair in law in recognition of her outstanding scholarship and expertise. Professor Dawood has been awarded the CRC in Democracy, Constitutionalism and Electoral Law (Tier 2). In total, the University of Toronto received 41 CRCs – the most of any Canadian university – with 34 new chairs and seven renewals.

Dawood is a world-renowned scholar in election law and democratic governance. Her work is comparative and interdisciplinary in nature, and draws upon election law, political theory, empirical social science, legal theory, comparative constitutional law and law and courts. Her expertise on election law has been at the forefront on important public issues in Canada. The full U of T News article is available here.
