Biography
Professor Michael Donnelly completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Columbia University. He has published on a wide variety of topics, many concerning the political economy of contemporary Japan. He has been a visiting professor and researcher at six different Japanese universities and research institutes. He is the recipient of an Outstanding Teaching Award from the Faculty of Arts and Science. He has served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, founding Director of the Asian Institute, and first-holder of the David Chu Professorship of Asia Pacific Studies. As a long-term resident of Toronto, New York City and Tokyo he is now exploring in his teaching and research the nature of city-life in advanced capitalist countries.
