Addressing Anti-Asian Racism

In recent weeks, a number of our faculty have appeared on various media platforms responding to the recent spike in reports of anti-Asian harassment and discrimination, both here in North America and around the world. They include:

• Joseph Wong The Globe And Mail Anti-Asian microaggressions are racist – period
• Diana Fu The New Normal with Maydianne Andrade (Ep. 19 part one): Scapegoat
• A recent CIC (Canadian International Council) report published by Diane Fu and Emile Dirks Disaggregating Xi Jinping’s China recommending Ottawa to take action against Sinophobia.
• Diana Fu also edited an issue of POLITICO’s China Watcher which included a section on Anti-Asian sentiment in the US. She also hosted a joint panel with the Brookings Institution via Munk’s Asian Institute, in which she asked panelists to discuss how Ottawa and DC should address rising Anti-Asian sentiment in Canada and abroad.
