Professor Stephen Clarkson appointed to the Order of Canada

On June 30, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, announced that Professor Stephen Clarkson was among the 74 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Prof. Clarkson has been named a Member of the Order of Canada.

Prof. Clarkson’s work has focuses on a number of areas, including the North American Free Trade Agreement and the evolution of North America as a continental state, as well as how Canada has been affected by globalization. He has also written extensively on federal politics in Canada, and is well-known for his 2005 book, The Big Red Machine: How the Liberal Party Dominates Canadian Politics.

The Department congratulates Professor Clarkson on this remarkable achievement. The receipients of the Order will be invited to a ceremony in Ottawa in the near future.
