Natural Resources and Inequality
Themes
In this course, we review the debates over the “resource curse”. We look at whether natural resource abundance, especially booms and busts, have negative outcomes on economic development and regime type. We particularly emphasize the impact on income and social inequality. Cases include Indonesia, South Africa, and Brazil.
