Themes

This course will examine the social, economic and political causes of poverty. Cases examined will cover the industrial and developing worlds. Students will also consider various responses to poverty, including economic development, public policy, innovation and political change.

Format and Requirements

This is a seminar style course, requiring student participation. Students will be responsible for upwards of 150 pages of reading each week. Course evaluation will comprise discussion, reaction papers, and a final term paper.
