Politics in Europe
Themes
This course deals with the emergence of modern politics in Europe after 1945 (the New Europe). Focus will be on the main developments in European politics, such as political and economic integration, and how they have played out in Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the new member states of the European Union. Some of the topics covered in this context are Christian democracy, social democracy, nationalism, citizenship, and electoral politics. The course will conclude with an overview of the European Union.
