Topics in Comparative Politics
Contemporary Israeli Society and Politics
Themes
An introduction to Israeli politics, society, institutions and political practice, from the perspective of the development of Israeli identity (identities). Particular attention will be given to the sources of Israeli identity. We will study the main players involved in Israeli politics, their inner conflicts, and to the role of these conflicts and regional security considerations in development of Israeli identity.

Format and Requirements
One two-hour lecture per week, consisting of instructor’s presentation and in-class discussions. One interim paper (10 pages, 30%); and the final test (60%), class attendance and participation in discussions (10%). Students should be prepared to actively participate in the discussions.
