Themes
This course will explore a range of questions about political community in the modern world with particular attention to the relationship between claims about what political communities ought to be and empirical evidence about actual political arrangements.

One analytic paper dealing with the readings and one research paper (40% each) Active participation in class discussion, 4 or 5 one-page papers distributed to entire class prior to seminar, and one seminar presentation (20%).
