Themes
This course focuses on four major political thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries: Rousseau, Mill, Hegel and Marx. We will explore the theorists’ understanding of the following topics, among others: human nature, liberty, equality, justice, history, progress, and the relationship between the individual and society.

Format and Requirements
Two papers and a final exam, each worth 33 1/3 %. Bonus marks for participation.
