Biography

Sanjida Amin is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. Her dissertation, The Ties that Spoil: Explaining the nexus between foreign sponsorship and rebel fragmentation explores how interstate rivalry can impact civil war processes such as peace negotiations, and organizational structure of rebel groups. Sanjida has conducted fieldwork in several locations (Khartoum, Addis Ababa and Nairobi) in Eastern Africa. Her research seeks to inform successful peacebuilding practices in other countries in Eastern Africa, and in the world.
