Lama’s research interests include migration, border studies, urban and local governance, and citizenship, with a particular focus on the Middle East. Her dissertation research is focused the role of municipalities in Lebanon in responding to the Syrian refugee crisis. Her recent work has been published in Journal of Refugee Studies, Middle East Law and Governance, and Forced Migration Review. She has received numerous grants and awards for her work, including the SSHRC-CGS Doctoral Award, the International Development Research Centre’s (IDRC) Doctoral Award, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, and a Fellowship from the Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict, and Justice.
