Randall Hansen appointed as Interim Director, Munk School of Global Affairs

Political Scientist Randall Hansen has been appointed as Interim Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs effective June 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. Professor Hansen received his DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford in 1998. He taught at the Universities of London (Queen Mary) and Oxford (Merton) before coming to Toronto in 2005 as Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Immigration & Governance in the Department of Political Science. He was appointed to Full Professor in 2009.

Professor Hansen’s research interests include immigration and citizenship, eugenics and population policy, and the effect of war on civilian population. He is the author of four books (one co-authored), four edited books, two dozen peer-reviewed articles, and two dozen book chapters. His second book, Fire and Fury, was nominated for the Governor General’s Literary Award (non-fiction). He is the recipient of grants from SSHRC, the British Academy, the Welcome Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Jean Monnet Programme (European Commission).
