Departmental OLIP Information Session

January 13, 2015

The Ontario Legislative Internship Programme (OLIP) is currently seeking applications from outstanding senior undergraduate and master’s-level students. The programme combines both practical and theoretical work and offers interns an unparalleled perspective to experience the dynamic environment of proceedings at Queen’s Park.

Candidates who are selected to be interns will provide backbench Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) with high quality staff. An intern’s typical work could include committee work, communications and policy analysis. Interns are also engaged in theoretical work, through group seminars, and are asked to produce a paper at the conclusion of the internship on a matter relevant to Ontario politics. Interns also participate in comparative study tours in order to see how other legislatures function.

This internship is paid and lasts 10 months, beginning in September 2015. Prospective interns must hold at least one university degree.

The Department of Political Science will be hosting a seminar session with a member of OLIP on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2pm in Room 3130 Sidney Smith Hall. We hope this session will help answer any questions you might have about preparing your application to the programme.

If you have any questions, please contact Brent Jolly. He can be reached at: Brent.Jolly@utoronto.ca

We look forward to seeing you there.
