Winner of the 2012-13 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award

The Department of Political Science is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

Winner: Lindsay Mahon

Runner up: Jennifer Hove

Lindsay Mahon is an outstanding teaching assistant. One student noted: “She is perfect.” Another mentioned her excitement at attending tutorials. She conducted her tutorials in a fun, engaging manner, while making sure that every student understood the material. Her attentiveness to student needs was exemplary, as well as her thoughtful and thorough comments to help students achieve their goals. The evaluations of her performance were stellar, with perfect or near perfect scores showing her very strong qualities as an effective communicator and a highly dedicated teacher.

The committee wishes to make a special mention of Jennifer Hove as the runner up for the Outstanding TA Award. In the words of one of her nominators, she “exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding TA”. In a very challenging assignment as a TA for POL494H, she was engaging, very well organized, exercised outstanding judgment, and provided remarkable support to students.
