The instructors in the Political Science Department not only teach you potential ways to analyze world affairs, but they also motivate you to learn more, research more, and question more. Through a Research Opportunity Course, I had the rare opportunity to conduct primary research in Washington DC. I met with political affairs ministers and ambassadors from the Canadian and Mexican Embassies, policymakers from the US government, researchers from leading think tanks, professors, and a variety of other experts on my topic. The discussions I had in Washington provided a rich context for my research. — Sarah Yun, Winner of the Alexander Mackenzie Scholarship in Political Science

Are you thinking about applying for an internship, but don’t know where to begin? The Department of Political Science presents a seminar specially designed for political science undergraduate students who want to know how to get career-related job experience.

The presenter, Smadar Peretz, is the Director of Internships for the prestigious Master in Global Affairs Program at the Munk School.  A graduate of this interdisciplinary program in its previous ‘incarnation’, Smadar has extensive professional experience in the areas of political economy, international development and strategic communications.  Before joining the Munk School of Global Affairs, Smadar was a senior advisor to the Belinda Stronach Foundation, developing and shaping its policy platform on programming in support of women and girls in the developing world.

    Hi Anna,

As a Political Science student, I am curious about the presentation, however, I have a 10:00-12:00 class that day. Is there any sort of guidance and/or recommendations you could possibly give me otherwise, that pertains to the presentation? Thank you.

    Dear Davin,

This event was actually from last year!

You are more than welcome to visit Anna during her office hours (Tuesdays 4-6pm in SS3035) for any extra guidance on internships.

This specific event is not held this year but there are other events similar in focus (post-graduate career development) which are advertised through the APSS and the undergraduate listserve.
